Harrogate Flower Show – Ronnie

Day 1

For me, an early start doing the Kingston feeder route and then through to the interchange and off up the A1 (Great North Road) much more interesting than the M1. Going over the Black Cat roundabout, past Stilton, then Peterborough, RAF Wittering and Burghley, where the horse trails are held then into Barnsdale gardens. It is very nice, there is a good café and lovely gardens. It is a very tranquil place, its not far off the A1 but it feels like a million miles away – which is great! After leaving here it was off to the Holiday Inn Brighouse, where we were warmly welcomed.
Our rooms were very nice, we enjoyed dinner – the food and staff in the restaurant were brilliant.
Then, it was an early night for me.

Day 2

Off to Harrogate.
After a very good breakfast, we left the hotel at 8.45am so we could arrive just after the gates opened for the Harrogate Flower Show. We were fortunate enough to park right by the entrance and buses took people right into the showground. This event is very well organised.
The day was a bit gloomy – but there was lots of entertainment going on indoors in marquees and tents too.
Guests returned to the coach for 4pm till 4.30pm, arriving back at the hotel for 5.20pm.
Guests enjoyed their day and dinner was good so lots of happy guests.

Day 3

It was leisurely breakfast this morning, I loaded the cases at 9.45am and we made our way to Stamford going across from the M1 to the A1. We stopped at Stamford for lunch and a really nice day.
After lunch, one final coffee break before the interchange.
A very nice weekend.

Dutch Bulbfields & Keukenhof Gardens – Ronnie

Day One

We caught the ferry and clients relaxed on the ship, when we arrived in Calais, the weather was a bit gloomy, but no problem.

We travelled via Dunkirk, Bruges, Ghent & Antwerp to arrive at our hotel for about 6.40pm, for a 7.30pm dinner, which all clients seemed to enjoy.

Day Two

A visit to Keukenhof Gardens today, it was very wet, this morning but clearing,. Our first port of call was the Kaag Lake for those that wanted to go on the lake. For those guests that didn’t want the boat trip, I took them round to Keukenhof Gardens and saw them in and advised them where to meet me later.

Everyone enjoyed the park and all the exhibits, although it was on the cold side. Some guests enjoyed a Brandy Chocolate to warm up! Back to the hotel from here – a good day, I think!

Day Three

Today we made our way to Volendam, stopping at a Cheese and Clog farm on the way, the clog maker was very good (funny!) and then it was onto Voldendam for lunch. It was very busy there. After lunch we made our way into Amsterdam, where most of the guests enjoyed the city tour and canal boat cruise. A bit of free time, after this, and then we return to the hotel for our last evening where we find Ricky (another of our Crusader Holiday’s Drivers) with another group of customers.

Day Four

We returned to Calais and our ferry to Dover. A good weekend!
