Bob – Paris – Easter Weekend 2013
Our Easter Weekend in Paris was a great success.
We left Thurrock on time and arrived at Dover with comfortable time to spare for the Ferry crossing. We picked up our tour manager, Bev ( my wife ), she had the lay in that morning!!! We stayed at the Novotel La Defense in Paris with Friday evening free for guests to relax or explore.
Saturday we took in an in-depth guided city tour taking in all the famous landmarks and much more, plus a wonderful Seine River Cruise to start the day off. After free time for lunch and shopping we enjoyed a relaxing couple of hours at the hotel before venturing back into town for a delightful Gala Dinner and illuminations tour of the city before returning to the hotel for a well earned night cap.
Easter Sunday took us first to Versailles to wonder around the marvelous farmers market in the square and explore this famous Chateau and its extensive gardens. After our visit to Versailles we took another well earned break at the hotel before our evening out.
Our final evening in Paris took us to the famous Montmartre and Pigalle area with its wonderful cafes, bars, restaurants and shops all squashed together in narrow cobbled streets, a lovely atmosphere. Here we visited the lovely Old Sacre Coeur looking down on a fantastic view of Paris. There are excellent Piano bars to choose from or take a stroll through the artist square watching the caricatures and portraits being drawn or painted.
The return journey took us passed the famous Moulin Rouge and many interesting shops. Pigalle is the equivalent of our Soho in London, so a few giggles were had by all. We returned back to our hotel about 10.15pm.
Monday, a comfortable start at 10am down to Calais for the return journey to the UK. A good time had by all. With Bev’s excellent and knowledgeable commentary throughout the whole weekend the passengers went home with wonderful memories and promising themselves to go again.
